Jeffery Bish Obituary

Jeffery J. Bish

Jeffery James "Jeff" Bish, 62, of Tiffin, passed away at 8:44 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria, after a short battle with cancer.

Jeff, also known as Sparky to his friends and loved ones, spent his last day surrounded by family and made his journey to heaven as Pink Floyd's "Welcome to the Machine" played.

Jeff was born July 1, 1961, in Tiffin, to Charles (Sandy) Bish of Tiffin and Sandra (Ronald) Brendle of New Riegel. He graduated from Columbian High School in 1979.

After high school, Jeff entered U.S. Marine Corps on Dec. 28, 1979, and began his journey with the military at Camp Pendleton, California. From there, he traveled to Japan, Korea, and the Philippines. Throughout his military career, Jeff was certainly part of a "Band of Brothers" branding themselves as the P.I.G.S. (Pride in Ground Support) to his fellow service member who remained friends to the very last day. Jeff finished out his military career decorated with meritorious service awards and other accommodations.

Upon his return home, he worked as a Maintenance Technician at Ardaugh Group (Rexam) in Fremont. Jeff had an adventurous spirit with his hobbies of skiing, kayaking, mountain bike riding, white water rafting, and more. Jeff's adventures took him to many places across the United States and Canada, enjoying his love of these extreme sports. More recently, Jeff enjoyed his time at the YMCA and walks along the Sandusky River. But, his true passion in the most recent years was smoking meat with his custom-made smoker branded as Circle B BBQ. Jeff enjoyed spending time with and feeding all of his family and friends.

Jeff is survived by his parents; son, Joseph Bish of Tiffin; brother, Robert (Angie) Bish of Tiffin; stepbrothers, Gregory (Vicki) Brendle of Suffolk, Virginia, and Kenny Maag of Tiffin; stepsisters, Michele Maag of Tiffin and Christina (Victor) Harvey of Macceny, Florida; nephew, Andrew Bish of Tiffin; nieces, Valerie (Rudi) Feasel of Tiffin and Stephanie Johnson of Tiffin; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Greg Bish; and grandparents, Carl and Margaret Bish and Richard and Blanche Walk.

Jeff graciously donated his body to through UTMC in an effort to help others who may be suffering. Upon his return home to Tiffin, he will lay next to his brother, Greg, in eternal life at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. A full military graveside service will be announced at a later date.

A special and heartfelt thanks goes to Ben, the Tiffin Mercy Hospital Chaplin, to his caring nurses Alyssa and Nichole at Ohio Living Hospice, and to the kind staff at Good Shepherd Home of Fostoria.

Jeff was always a man of True Grit and was considered to be the king of one-liners and that werk is work no matter how you spell it! Jeff was an uniquely wonderful person that had love in his heart for all people and he will be missed dearly. He now can be found traversing the heavenly ski slopes of eternity. I am very saddened to hear of Jeff's passing. He was such a good guy with a zest for life. From watching him play hacky sack with flare as we were kids to his love of BBQing as an adult; it was always fun to know that he was enjoying life. He was just one of those people with a GREAT ATTITUDE. He will be missed. Good bye my friend. Jean
