Jerome M. Johnson

Jerome M. Johnson, 79, of Fostoria. passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.

He was born Oct. 31, 1942, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to Ernest and Nellie E. (Newton) Johnson.

He is survived by his mother, Nellie; two sisters, Constance Burnside of Mississippi and Sandra Neusom of Fostoria; four children, Nikole (Michael) Childress of Illinois, Ryan Landers of Arizona, Andrea (Eric) Curry of New York, and Jessica Johnson of Minnesota; nine grandchildren, Kevin, Ryanne, Yolanda, Chanel, Jalen, Rayni, Naia, Michael, and Levi; and one great-granddaughter, Amaia.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest.

Jerome graduated from Fostoria High School in 1960. Thereafter, he joined U.S. Navy as a Navy Corpsman with service in Vietnam. He was a former member of Am Vets and First Baptist Church in Fostoria. Following his Navy service, he worked in a variety of industries that included Fostoria Foundry and medical filed as a pharmacy technician. During his life, he resided in California and Minnesota before returning to Fostoria in 2002. Jerome was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching and playing basketball. Bringing him the most joy in life however was his children and his family.

Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, has been entrusted with private arrangements.
