Jerrod Scott Kirian

Jerrod "Scott" Kirian, 62, of Wayne, passed away Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bowling Green.

He was born Sept. 2, 1961, in Tiffin, to Jerry Lee Kirian and Cleo Janette (Reiter) Puffenberger.

Scott is survived by a daughter, Sarah Alabaugh of Tiffin; brothers, Brad (Tonya) Kirian of Wayne and David (Courtney) Kirian of San Diego, California; sisters, Natalie Ryon of Tiffin, Beth Kirian of St. Joseph, Minnesota, and Kelly (Brian) Shock of Attica; and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Aubrey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Kimberly Kirian.

Scott was a 1979 graduate of Seneca East High School. He was a cancer survivor and a very passionate childhood cancer advocate, fundraising for the cause and making personal connections with families of children impacted by this devastating disease all over the world. He loved music and in his youth, was an avid drummer. He also had a love for sports, never missing a Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes, or Detroit Tigers game.

A celebration of life will be on a later date.

Scott was one of a kind! He and I shared many paths however crossing them at different times of our lives. It was fun talking of the places we had been and even had eaten such as Tony Paco's in Toledo just different times.... Keesler AFB Biloxi, MS at different times....
The #1 thing we had in common, we were both Cancer Survivors and Advocates for children with cancer!
I adored his friendship as short as it was, the impact was mighty! I pray for peace that passeth all understanding and God's comfort for all of you! Scott, Buddy.... you will never be forgotten! You are one heck of a fighter! Love you my friend!

To Scott's family, you have my deepest symphathy. I'm sure he is in Heaven with the children he helped out. My heart is hurting. Scott was a very caring and loving man. Just wish I could have spent more time with you to know more about being an Advocate myself. You will be missed by so many. God bless you and your family. Love, Teresa Schalk
