Joann Frisch Obituary

Joann M. (Bonnigson) Frisch

Joann M. (Bonnigson) Frisch, 76, of Catawba Island, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025, surrounded by her family at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. She was born March 13, 1949, in Sandusky the daughter of Henry L. "Hank" and Doris (Camp) Bonnigson. She graduated from Clyde High School in 1967 and married the love of her life H. Joseph Frisch Jr. on October 25, 1969.

Joann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Throughout their marriage, Joann was the glue that held her family together as she and Joe had four children and moved their family six times across Ohio, Michigan & Canada. She earned an Interior Design certificate from LaSalle University and was also a great landscape artist. Joann kept an impeccably clean and decorated home and took pride in her beautiful flower gardens.

She had a busy social calendar and always arrived at gatherings with a smile and a gift for the hostess. She never missed an opportunity to send a personal card for a birthday or an anniversary. She loved traveling and learning about the towns she visited. She cherished her photos and keepsakes by putting them into scrapbooks to share with others. She was very devoted to her Catholic faith and was a religious education teacher at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marblehead. She was also active in Birthright in St. Joseph, Michigan.

For the past seven years of her life, Joann worked relentlessly to overcome the obstacles caused by a stroke. While her speech never fully returned, she never lost the ability to say her prayers.

She is survived by her husband Joe; children, Brad Frisch (Valerie Van Fleet) of Fremont, Shannon (Jason) Kadlec of Traverse City, Michigan, Jake (Gretchen) Frisch of Huron, and Trent (Tiffany) Frisch of Port Clinton; grandchildren, Noah, Logan, Tyler and Halle Kadlec, Alexis and Maisie Frisch and Austin Frisch; siblings: Karl (Pat) Bonnigson of Fremont, Keith (Jamie) Bonnigson of Bay View, Jeanne (Ken) Mathias of Burgoon, Ken (Jen) Bonnigson of Clyde, Grace (Chris) Leichty of Green Springs, Mary (Tim) Myers of Fremont; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and grandson, Dawson Frisch.

I first met Joanne when she was a member of Curves. She always brightened our day and had loving stories about her family. My prayers for her and the family.
