John Munn Obituary

John Roger Munn

John Roger Munn, 85, of Tiffin, passed into eternity at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022, at Bridge Hospice Care, Findlay, with some of his family surrounding him.

He was born June 21, 1937, at home in the southeast Ohio hilly town of Barton, Ohio. He was the second child of four born to Herbert and Ann (Stropki) Munn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Don, Herb, and Dianna Rooks; and great-grandson, Declan Brokaw.

John graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1955. He had the lead in the senior class play with his part being a principal. After high school, John joined U.S. Marine Corp in Nov., 1955. He was stationed for the most part in Okinawa and was honorably discharged in Nov., 1958, as a Sergeant.

In July, 1959, he met and later married Judith Imhoff on July 1, 1961, in Rocky River. It was a match made in Heaven.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Munn of Tiffin; children, Kelly Munn of Cortland, Scott (Therese) Munn of England, and Rachel (Brian) Briggs of Tiffin; five grandchildren, Marshall (Katie) Goss of Hubbard, Mandi (Mike) Brokaw of Austintown, Zack (Alex) Goss of Austintown, Megan Briggs of Baltimore, Maryland, and Joshua (Erin) Briggs of Tiffin; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He did many things with his offspring and loved them very much.

In 1968, John began studying social studies at Kent State University. The family lived in Streetsboro. He graduated in 1972 and began his career at West Jr. High, Columbian High School, and East Jr. High. He was a hard-working, respected, and dedicated teacher, retiring in 1994.

John enjoyed many things, including traveling, telling jokes, writing poetry, being with family and friends, playing cards, Silver Sneakers, and watching baseball, football, and basketball.

He was active at Faith United Methodist Church (a life-long Methodist). At church, he was chairperson of the Ad. Council, on the staff parish committee, evangelist committee, adult Sunday school (taught some), and their softball team.

A private celebration of life took place and interment was at Columbarium at Faith United Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 75 N. Sandusky Street, Tiffin, Ohio, 44883. (Put #3020600 in the memo… it is for water wells for the poor).

The family would like to thank Bridge Hospice for their thorough and loving care.
