John Stahl Obituary

John Stahl

John Stahl, 74, of Fostoria, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

He was born Feb. 24, 1950, in Tiffin, to Keith and Elfriede (Cramer) Stahl. He married Diane Hohman on Sept. 11, 1981, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel, and she survives in Fostoria.

John is also survived by his daughter, Kristen Stahl of Fostoria; sisters, Vicki Ferguson of Fostoria and Susan (Randy) Plummer of Tecumseh, Michigan; brother, Gary Stahl of Fostoria; brothers-in-law, Dick (Deb) Hohman of Tiffin and Larry Hohman of Delaware, Ohio; sister-in-law, Jean Bowman of Carey; and many nieces and nephews.

John attended Lakota High School prior to entering U.S. Army. He served from 1969-1972 and was stationed in Germany. In 1979, he was a member of Ohio Skeet Team at the World Skeet Championships in San Antonio, Texas. In 1980, he participated in the Olympic Trials for Skeet Shooting. John was employed at National Machinery in Tiffin for 32 years before retiring in 2017 as their Master Scheduler. Prior to National, he worked at Copeland Corporation and Seneca Lumber.

John was always positive, curious, and health-minded. He enjoyed assembling model cars, woodworking, working out at the YMCA, and volunteering as a pilot with Cycling Without Age. John was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria and in years past, he was a blood donor and proud member of Seneca Sprockets Bicycle Club.

Per John's request, there will be no visitation or funeral. His graveside committal service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2024, at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, New Riegel, with Deacon Greg Siebenaller presiding. Military honors will be performed by New Riegel American Legion.

Arrangements are being handled by HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio, 44380.

I volunteered with John many times as a bike pilot for Cycling Without Age. He was so nice and kind. It only took a short time with him to realize that he was the best of people.
