Joseph Michael "Joe" Daniel

Joseph M. "Joe" Daniel, 93, of Tiffin, passed away Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at St. Francis Home.

He was born Jan. 25, 1931, in Seneca County, to Carl and Theresa (Beat) Daniel. He married Mary Lucille Reinhart on Feb. 11, 1953, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Frenchtown.

Joe's survivors include his wife, Mary Lucille Daniel of Tiffin; children, Joanne M. (Mike) Reinhart of Tiffin, Robert P. (Teresa) Daniel of Powell, and Luana D. Coppus of Tiffin; brothers, John (Nancy) Daniel and Paul Daniel, both of Tiffin; sisters, Margaret King of Perrysburg and Barbara (Jerry) Lemmerman of Galloway; sister-in-law, Donna Daniel; grandchildren, Kerstin Reinhart, Craig Reinhart, Karis (David) Markel, Joseph Daniel, Robert Daniel, Dakota Daniel, Christa Coppus, and Calli Coppus (Eric) Metzger; and great-grandchildren, Reagan and Kennedy Markel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vincent Daniel and Norman Daniel; sisters, Dorothy Arbogast, Germaine Vent, and Mary Lou Distel; brothers-in-law, Urban Arbogast, Gilbert Vent, and Richard Distel; and sister-in-law, Sue Daniel.

Joe served in the Korean War from April 16, 1953 to March 29, 1955. He started working at Schultz Oil Company in 1965 and retired as CEO in 2009. He owned a convenience store, Always Open, that was located at Sixes Corners. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DAV, VFW Post 2858, American Legion Post 354 in New Riegel, Elks Lodge #94, Moose Lodge #846, Seneca County Farm Bureau, and was past president of National Farmers Organization. He was a proud member of AA for 49 years. Joe enjoyed traveling, reading, fishing, and farming. He looked forward to the annual Daniel Corn Roast that he started 57 years ago. You wouldn't find him eating less than four ears of corn and a piece of his sister Dorothy's elderberry pie.

The family of Joe would like to express a special thank you to Annie, Jessica, Ayesha, Jane, and Cleta at St. Francis Home, and to Heartland Hospice for their extraordinary care with Joe.

Funeral Mass will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Anthony Coci and the Rev. Tim Kummerer co-officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow at Seneca Memory Gardens with military honors being conducted by American Legion Post 354, New Riegel.

Visitation for friends and family will be 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, (419) 447-2424.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Choir, Heartland Hospice, or charity of the donor's choice.

Joe was on top of the world when he was at family gatherings picking on the kids especially Judy Vent! Sure miss my Dear Uncle Joe!

Karen and Don Daniel offer our condolences to the family for the loss of my uncle Joe and my god father. We are in Canada and can´t attend the funeral. We are so sorry and sad of the loss. We will always remember his love of picking on the Kids!
