Joseph Darmour Obituary

Joseph Darmour

Joseph Darmour, 51, died Thursday, June 16, 2022.

He was born Sept. 29, 1970, in Barberton, to Kenneth and Harriet (Gerber) Darmour.

He is survived by his mother, Harriet Darmour of Wadsworth; sister, Nancy (Michael) Grandillo of Tiffin; brother, John Darmour of Woodbury, Tennessee; nephew, Vincent (Amy) Grandillo of Cleveland; niece, Gina Grandillo of Tiffin; and special life coaches and providers, John and Tab Kelly of Wadsworth.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Joe was a graduate of Medina County Achievement Center and well-known and loved by the surrounding community. He was an accomplished athlete, competing in Special Olympics basketball and golf. His JV basketball team won the state championship in 2013. He was honored in 2014 with an induction into Medina County Sports Hall of Fame. He enjoyed being productive and had meaningful jobs at Buehler's, Wendy's, and most recently, Wadsworth Planet Fitness. Joe was an avid Cleveland sports fan and a loyal follower of Wadsworth Grizzlies and Heidelberg University sports.

He enjoyed watching his niece and nephew in their high school and college sports endeavors and was a dedicated enthusiast of professional wrestling and monster trucks. He enjoyed attending regular services at Trinity United Church of Christ, Wadsworth, where he was a lifelong member. Joe's disabilities never defined or confined him. His gentle kindness, outgoing personality and infectious optimism were a model to all who knew him.

A celebration of life for Joe will be 1-3 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2022, at Trinity UCC Wadsworth. Interment will be at Western Reserve National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wadsworth Public Library, Trinity UCC Wadsworth, or the donor's choice.

Harriet, Your son could brighten anyone's day. I remember how much fun he had at the summer picnics. I also remember how kind he was to Aaron, and that he gave him good advice. He is always remembered.

We are so very sorry to hear of Joe's passing. I remembered so well how he gave Aaron a much deserved hard time at church. The two of them loved teasiing each other. We often went to Wendy's just to see his smile. He will be greatly missed. Prayers to your family. I am so sorry that we could not make the service Monday
