Joseph Arthur Scherger

Joseph Arthur Scherger, 85, of Tiffin, died at 7:09 a.m. Monday, Sept. 5, 2022, at Randall Residence, Tiffin. He was born July 21, 1937, in Tiffin, to Arthur J. and Ruth M. (Souders) Scherger. He married Rita Jean Seislove on Aug. 23, 1958, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, and she survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Daniel (Pam) Scherger and Jeffrey (Dana) Scherger, both of Tiffin; two daughters, Cynthia A. Schalk and Karen (Mark) Pardi, both of Tiffin; 11 grandchildren, Lucy (David) Vera, Tony Schalk, Robert (Adrienne) Schalk, Jacob (Carolyn) Scherger, Joseph (Teresa) Scherger, Emily Scherger, Steven (Samantha) Scherger, Venessa (Jordan) Lookabaugh, Alexandra (Kyle) Sours, Lindsey (Patrick) Myers, and Vincent (Emily) Pardi; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and infant sister, Cheri Diane Scherger.

Joseph was a 1955 Calvert High School graduate. He obtained his Accounting Degree at Tiffin University. He retired as an accountant at American Standard. He was also an EMT for Tiffin Ambulance Service for many years. After he retired, he also worked part-time for Dell-Burtis Attorneys. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knight of Columbus, and Calvert Boosters.

Visitation will be 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, (419) 447-3113.

Funeral Mass will be 12 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, with the Rev. Anthony Coci officiating. The rosary will be recited at the church 30 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will take place immediately following at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
