Josephine Martin Obituary

Josephine Martin passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026 at 98 years of age.

Born in 1927 to Joseph and Anna Matranga in Brooklyn, New York, she never knew her Father, who passed away 6 months prior to her birth. She lived in Sunnyside Queens, New York with her Mother, Step-Father Christopher and sister Ann Elizabeth Jemmola.

She graduated from Julia Richman High School for women in New York City. Josephine worked at the New York Band Instrument Company, who recorded the music of the famous singers and Big Bands of the time. Josephine was married to her husband Charles for 74 years, moved to Melville, New York in 1951 and lived there for 46 years, where son Jeff and daughters Patricia and Kathleen were born.

She was a housewife raising 3 children and worked as a Dental Assistant for many years. Additionally, she supported Charles in the many activities and social functions of the Melville Fire Department.

Josephine and Charles moved to Bedford, New Hampshire in 1997 as their second home, where they lived and enjoyed the beauty of New Hampshire with family and friends.

The viewing will be at the A.L. Jacobsen Funeral Home, 1380 New York Avenue, Huntington Station, NY on Friday February 27, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Hugh of Lincoln R.C. Church, Huntington Station, NY on Saturday February 28, 2026 at 9:30 am with Burial following at Melville Cemetery.
