Judith Schleter Obituary

Judith Ida Schleter

Judith Ida Schleter, 83, of Tiffin, died peacefully surrounded by her family at 10:55 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022, at her residence. She was born August 24, 1938, in Seneca County to Alfred and Cora (Bullinger) Hartenstein. She married Robert A. Schleter September 12, 1959, at St. Mary Catholic Church. He preceded her in death April 10, 1998.

Surviving Judy are two sons, Dennis (Cecelia) Schleter of Fostoria, Darrin (Sharon) Schleter, of Tiffin; four grandchildren, Josh Schleter, Ashlee Schleter, Derek (Kelsie) Schleter, Brennen Schleter; two great-grandchildren, Tirran Schleter and Aubreigh Schleter; four brothers, Paul (Evelyn) Hartenstein of Wakeman, Gregory (Elaine) Hartenstein of Henrietta, New York, Patrick (Ann) Hartenstein of New Riegel, Michael (Sue) Hartenstein of Fremont; and a sister-in-law, Carmella Hartenstein of Tiffin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert, four sisters, Alfreda Dannemiller, Ethella Cook, Gladys Cunningham, and Mercedes Miller; a brother, Steven Hartenstein, and an infant brother.

Judy was a 1956 graduate of Bettsville High School and was class valedictorian, but she always mentioned "There were only eight students in my class." She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was a homemaker. She had a great sense of humor and was extraordinarily generous, giving to anyone in need. She was very compassionate and caring. She loved going to garage sales and writing her many pen pals. When she was well, you could always see Judy in the front row of St. Mary Catholic church. Her faith was very important to her along with her family. Her love was great and she will be missed tremendously.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St. Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.

The funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at St. Mary Catholic Church, officiated by her brother-in-law Rev. Edward Schleter. The rosary will be recited 30 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow immediately in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
