Karen Gackstetter Obituary

Karen Gackstetter

Karen Gackstetter, 63, of Helena, passed away at home Saturday, April 19, 2025. Karen was born Karen S. Girand on March 1, 1962, in Fremont to Robert L. and Judith A. (Pressler) Girand. She later became a 1980 graduate of Gibsonburg High School. On August 4, 1983, she married Brian Gackstetter and they were blessed with two children before Brian's death in 2007. She found love again and married Todd Tiell on September 17, 2022, in Helena. Karen and Todd celebrated almost 3 years of marriage together.

Karen most recently worked as the human resources manager for Century Tool and Dye for almost 3 years and Chippewa Tool and Dye for the previous 20-plus years. Her memberships included American Legion and Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Fremont. She enjoyed showing horses, making wine, traveling, and cooking. She was not a lover of baking. However, she made the most wonderful Christmas cookies. Karen was a football sports fan, especially of the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes. She had many joys in life nevertheless, it was her family especially her grandchildren that she enjoyed spending time with which ultimately was her greatest joy!

In addition to her husband, Todd; Karen is survived by her children, Ashley (Allan) Huss of Woodville and Ryan (Amanda Brubaker) Gackstetter of Woodville; grandchildren, Avelyn "Avie B", and Gracie; brothers, Robert (Pamela Rose) Girand and Bryan Girand; sisters, Michelle (Kathy) Girand; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her first husband, Brian Gackstetter, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Family will host a Celebration of Life open house from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Gibsonburg American Legion Post No.17.

Karen will be laid to rest at a family committal at Elliston Cemetery, Elliston.
