Karen Jo McClenathan

Karen Jo McClenathan, 74, of Clyde, died Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, surrounded by her family.

Karen was born Feb. 7, 1948, in New London, to Mildred (Blaylock) and Arvel Akers.

She was a member of the class of 1967 from Clyde High School.

An avid Bingo player, such as every Wednesday night at Clyde VFW, she was very interested in various crafts. She loved horror movies. The scarier, the better! Karen also loved to play cards and go camping.

Karen was a life-time member of Clyde VFW Post and member of Clyde Eagles. Karen retired from Whirlpool in 1996 after 14 years of employment.

Karen had trained to be a watch maker. However, her greatest joy was being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Karen married Charles B. McClenthan on Feb. 10, 1967. He, along with their four sons, Charles B. McClenathan (Tamara) of Bellevue, Todd (Angela) McClenathan of Tiffin, Shane (Kathy) McClenathan of Tiffin, and Brandon McClenathan of Green Springs survive. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Marissa, Zachariah, Abbegail, Jessica, Katrina, Allyson, Jenna, Junuh, and Jacob; two great-grandsons, Regan Charles and Jadon; and sister, Lisa Carroll of Clyde.

Karen was preceded in death by her father; mother; stepfather who raised her, Orville Carroll; grandson, Brent Charles; daughter-in-law, Angela Marie; and three brothers, Arvel Akers, who was killed Jan. 8, 1966, in Vietnam, Gregory Akers, and Dale Carroll.
