Karen Schubach Obituary

Karen K. Schubach

Karen Kay Schubach, 71, of Green Springs, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Karen was born Aug. 20, 1952, in Tiffin, to Carl E. and Hazel F. (Wright) Sherman. She married Thomas G. Schubach on March 17, 1973, in Tiffin.

Karen's survivors include her husband, Thomas Schubach of Green Springs; three sons, Jason Jakob (Jeannine) Schubach of New Riegel, Nicholas George Schubach of Canal Winchester, and Brandon Jay Schubach of Green Springs; two granddaughters, Macy and Evie; and two sisters, Laura Jean Ritter of Missouri and Melba Sue Lucius of Tiffin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and six brothers, William "Marion," Charles, Jerald, Walter "Pip," Ronald, and Ricky Sherman.

Karen enjoyed spending time with her family, attending her granddaughters' school and sporting activities, traveling to the Caribbean and Gatlinburg areas, shopping with friends, hosting their annual stew party, and supporting Tom's karaoke habit.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, truly committed to her family, always available and attentive to all of their needs.

Karen spent many years working in various banking positions across the country. Her banking career started in 1973 in southern California as a proof operator shortly after she and Tom were married. After Tom was transferred and stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii, she worked in proof and bookkeeping. Karen's banking career took a brief hiatus as she and Tom were busy raising three little boys. When she returned, she continued her career in various roles in Tiffin and Green Springs banks. She retired from Old Fort Banking Company Green Springs Branch as Assistant Manager. Karen also spent many years as an active member of Green Springs Emergency Medical Service. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and former Eastern Star member.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4-6 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, Tiffin. Karen's graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2024, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
