Kathleen Ann Hartman

Kathleen Ann Hartman, 77, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.

She was born Aug. 23, 1944, in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of Anne (Tutich) and Joseph Vanatsky. Her father, Joe, died in World War II, two months before Kathy was born. She married Edward Lynn Hartman on Jan. 29, 1964.

As a young girl, Kathy lived in Warren, but soon her mother moved to Warrensville Heights, where she attended and graduated from Warrensville Hts. High School in 1962. As an undergraduate, she attended Ohio University, after which she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from The Ohio State University. She earned a Master's Degree in Education from University of Dayton.

Kathy loved children and dedicated her life as a kindergarten teacher in Columbus Grove. She then became a gifted education teacher and later worked at Educational Service Center as a Gifted Education Coordinator. She was instrumental in promoting educational opportunities for the children of Putnam County by writing grants and working with teachers in all of the Putnam County school districts.

Kathy was an excellent cook and passed many treasured recipes from her family on to her children. She was an avid gardener who especially enjoyed growing roses. During her free time, you would find Kathy at Lake George spending time with her family, especially her precious grandchildren who brought her great joy.

Kathy was a devoted wife to her husband of 57 years, Edward Lynn, mother to her four daughters, Mary Lee (Steve) Ipock of Wilmington, North Carolina, Amy Beth (Troy) Lamar of Indiana, Pennsylvania, Kelly Lynn (Christopher) Rapp of Copley, Ohio, and Carrie Ann (Scott) Johnson of Toledo, grandmother to Morgan Caroline Ipock of Wilmington, North Carolina, Addison Paige Ipock of Durham, North Carolina, Ashlee Elizabeth Lamar of Manhattan, New York, Jordan David Lamar of Indiana, Pennsylvania, Reed Edward Rapp of Copley, and Maya Lynn and Zoey Kathleen Johnson of Toledo, and sister to Regina (Greg) Johnson of Hinsdale, Illinois.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2022, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022, and 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Kathleen's funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Rich Rakey presiding. Burial will follow at Truro Cemetery.
