Kathleen M. Hunker

Kathleen M. Hunker, 74 years young, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022, at St. Vincent Medical Center - Mercy Health, Toledo, after a sudden illness.

Kate was born Oct. 7, 1947, in Bellevue, to John and Mary Murphy, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Victor Hunker; four-legged friend, Ralph; three sisters, Janet (Dennis) Fletcher, Peg Strecker (Dean Rothaar), and Pat (Urb) Elchert; and brother, John (Susan) Murphy. She was the world's greatest aunt to Jennifer (Doug) Strecker-Miller, Isaac Fletcher, Hannah (Jason) Ross, Jeff Elchert, Anna (Dave) Ontko, John (Christina) Elchert, Katelyn (Dan) Potts, and Megan (Tyler) Kauffman. She was fondly known as GAK (great-aunt Kate) to her great-nieces and great-nephews.

Kate graduated from Calvert High School, Tiffin, in 1966, and studied at Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital. She was employed for 37 years in the radiology department at Mercy Health - Tiffin Hospital. She also had various adventures (jobs) after her retirement. Kate loved to cook and was well known for her eccentric outfits and always the perfect hat! She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.

Kate donated her body to University of Toledo, College of Medicine.

There will be a celebration of Kate's life for family and friends at a later date.
