Kenneth Ames Obituary
Kenneth E. Ames, 97, formerly of Sycamore, died at 9:01 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center, Upper Sandusky.
He was born Dec. 9, 1925, in Beach City, to Brice and Marie (Firestone) Ames. He married Blanch Irene (Curlis) Ames on Aug. 25, 1946, at Sycamore United Methodist Church and she died Jan. 6, 1976.
Kenneth is survived by his children, Ron (Charity) Ames of Sycamore, Sue Quillen of Tiffin, Lindel Bils of Upper Sandusky, Kim Ames of Sycamore, and Polly (David) Stevens of McCutchenville; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and special companion for many years, Lois Bates.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Daune Ames; brother, Wilmer Ames; sister, Velma Ripley; and son-in-law, Dave Bils.
Kenneth was a long hall truck owner and operator and also in his spare time was a heavy equipment operator.
He was a member of Sycamore United Methodist Church, life-time member of Sycamore American Legion Post # 250, and life-time member of VFW. He was a member of Teamster Union 92, Canton, and Central States United Teamster Union, Chicago, Illinois. He also was a World War ll Navy veteran, serving our country from 1943-1946.
Kenneth's funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. Amy Vittorio officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore, where Sycamore American Legion Post # 250 will conduct a military graveside service. Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to Sycamore United Methodist Church, Sycamore American Legion Post # 250, or Wyandot County Humane Society in care of Walton-Moore Funeral Home, P.O. Box 350, Sycamore, Ohio, 44882.
