Kenneth Corthell Obituary
Kenneth E. "Ken" Corthell, 100, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday afternoon, Oct. 12, 2024, at The Courtyard at Tiffin.
He was born March 19, 1924, in Tiffin, to George and Orpha (Haines) Corthell. Ken married Dorothy L. Rider on Oct. 26, 1946, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Ken's survivors include his children, Stephen (Kathy) Corthell and Jane (Jim) Supance, both of Tiffin; daughter-in-law, Margaret Corthell of Greenwood, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Jason) Billerman, Marcia (Matt) Kleinhenz, Alicia (Jesse) Darr, Kimere Corthell, Daniel (Heather) Corthell, Nathan Corthell (Chiara), and Katie Corthell; nine great-grandchildren, Lucas, Logan, Eden, Corinne, Jackson, Lane, Sawyer, Magnolia, and Sophia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy of 71 years; son, Richard Corthell; brothers, Robert, Gilbert, Paul, John, and Don; sisters, Catherine Brooks, Janette Holmer, and Helen Cole.
Ken was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and 1942 graduate of Columbian High School. He honorably served in U.S. Army Air Corp from 1943-1946, stationed in India. He began his career at National Machinery in 1948 and after 36 years, he retired in 1984. Ken and Dorothy wintered in Fort Myers and Cape Coral, Florida for over 20 years. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, bowling, and watching Cleveland Indians, Notre Dame, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Ken was a member of National Machinery Quarter Century Club, New Riegel American Legion Post 354, Knights of Columbus, and K of C.
Mass of Christian burial will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery with military honors by New Riegel American Legion.
Visitation for friends and family to share stories will be 12-1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northwestern Ohio Christian Youth Camp (formerly Camp Pittenger), 2905 Starr Ave., Oregon, Ohio, 43616.
