Kenneth Bradford Brad Sherman
Kenneth Bradford "Brad" Sherman, age 69, of Athens, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022. Born and raised in Green Springs, he attended Green Springs (Clyde) High School. Brad served his country in U.S. Army, on active duty from Aug., 1970 to April, 1972, assigned to 178th ASHC, 212th CAB VN, USARPAC as a Door Gunner. Bravely serving in Vietnam from March 29, 1971 to Feb. 11, 1972, he had decorated accommodations of National Defense Service Medal (NDSM), Vietnam Service Medal (VSM), and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal (RVCM). Brad was honorably discharged serving in the reserves until 1976. In 1974, he then took to the open road across country to California to explore the northern Sierra Nevada Mountain range of the Feather River at Berry Creek, later settling in the warm, sunny coastal area of San Diego, California. This is where he became and continued to be a dedicated football fan of San Diego Chargers.
He respectfully dedicated 32 years in the civil service working for Department of Defense as an Environmental Protection Specialist serving the Marines, Sailors, and their families aboard Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton. After retiring from civil service, he let the road again take him to the great volunteer state of Tennessee, where he enjoyed golfing, riding his Harley-Davidson, acting as President of the VFW Riders Club, and supporting his fellow veterans as an officer of VFW Post 5146.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Eugene Sherman; and mother, Juanita Sherman Wadsworth.
