Kristy Echelbarger Obituary

Kristy L. Echelbarger

In the song "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder, the lyrics express the hopes and dreams for a newborn daughter by her parents. The baby grows into an innocent, sweet child, turns "Sweet Sixteen" and matures into an industrious "Woman" who conquers life's challenges. There were many "Good Times" to have a "Celebration." But now she faces the final curtain and "…did it My Way."

Kristy Lee Echelbarger, 73, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023, at The Heritage, Findlay.

She was born Feb. 22, 1949, in Fostoria, to Frederick and E. JoAnne (O'Brien) Echelbarger.

Kristy is survived by two brothers, Michael (Victoria) Echelbarger of Fostoria and Patrick (Leticia) Echelbarger of Santa Cruz, California; and two nephews, Wesley and Emilio Echelbarger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and beloved dog, Sandy.

After graduating from Fostoria High School in 1967, Kristy continued her studies at Bowling Green State University in the field of Art. Her artistic skills led her to create stained glass windows and pastel portraits of family and friends. While working for The Limited women's clothing store in Dayton as a Sales Associate, her artistic design skills could be found in the numerous displays and windows arrangements. Kristy served as a Dental Assistant with Dr. Chubb's office in Findlay. It was during this time she decided to pursue a career as a Court Reporter and attended Tiffin University, earning her Associate in Business Technology diploma in 1981. She retired in 2003 from Findlay Municipal Court after 25 years of service as a Court Reporter and Bailiff. Kristy's stenographer skills took her to numerous northwest Ohio locations to take depositions. After retiring, Kristy took a part-time position with the Judson Palmer home in Findlay. She was a member of National Court Reporters Association, Ohio Shorthand Reporters Association, and Findlay Arts Council.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Kristy's funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Scott Hall officiating. Burial will be at Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria.

Caretakers Home Care Services provided Kristy with in-home care for several years prior to her relocating to The Heritage in Findlay. The family deeply appreciates the time and devotion they gave to Kristy's comfort.

Kristy was my favorite cousin. I always thought she was beautiful, soft spoken and humble. The last time I was in her company in 2006 she attended my Mothers 80th birthday party in Toledo. I miss her smile!
