Laura Galvin Obituary
Laura Lee Galvin
Laura Lee Galvin passed away peacefully at home in Tiffin, Saturday, March 7, 2026. Laura struggled with long-standing health issues, primarily Parkinson's,Type 1 Diabetes, and Fibro-myalgia. She facedall ofthese challenges withcourage and grace; shedidn'tlike to complain, and very rarely did; she very much epitomized quiet strength.
Laura was born to David and Kathleen Laube, July 15, 1958, in Toledo, the first of six children. She grew up in Toledo, graduated from Whitmer High School, and went on to earn her degree as a certified medical assistant from the University of Toledo. But as she grew in her career, she became very proficientinmedical coding, first with a family practice office and, most recently, with Mercy Health Partners in Toledo, retiring from MHP after moving to Tiffin.
Although she was excellent in her coding profession, she also had an amazing flair for decorating and design, especially in kitchen layout. She also had a great knack for turning an old piece of furniture into a decorative element that enhanced the decor of her home. The same wastrue of theoutside of her home as well. She tended several beautiful gardens that made the yard a definite showplace. Laura always said she was kind of a "frustrated designer."
Laura was an incredibly wonderful wife, friend, and partner to her husband, Tim; and to her three children, Barbara (Thomas) Grant, Gerald Mason, and Peter (Sarah) Mason; as well as her four grandchildren, Zachery, Lilee, Kaden, and Rhylee. Along with her parents, Kathleen and David Laube, Laura is further survived by two sisters, Linda (Dave) Szych and Angela (Aaron) Mechling; and two brothers, Christopher (Maggie) Laube and Patrick (Kari) Laube; along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. Laura was also very welcoming and loving toward herfour stepchildren, Jennifer (Alan) Czyzewski, Mary (Scott) Cummings, MichaelGalvinand Jayne Galvin.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa.
As her disease progressed, she became more debilitated, but that did not diminish her capacity to love and care about others, certainly her husband and family, but anyone with whom she came in contact. She was always kind, compassionate, and loving, and her inner strength was always present.
As difficult as life became, she was always able to maintain a beautiful smile. It is difficult to say goodbye, but it is also true that Laura is now at peace and is pain-free. She went to sleep in her home here on earth, but woke up in heaven, where weknowshe was welcomed by her Lord, and all of her friends and family, where shewilllive in love for eternity.
Laura donated her body to science in the hope that researchers might discover something about her condition that could help others. Concern for others defines who Laura is.
A Funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at All Saints Church in New Riegel.Family and friends are invited to come before Mass to offer prayer and share together in the celebration of her life.
In lieu of flowers, any donations should be made to Bridge Hospice in Findlay, with a special thanks to her wonderful Bridge Hospice caregivers, Shanna, Michelle, and Kristie, as well as Ian, Chaplain Robin and other members of the Bridge Hospice team who walked with Laura lovingly on her final journey on her way to heaven.
