LaVonne Hipsher Obituary

LaVonne E. Hipsher

LaVonne Evalyn Hipsher, 92, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at her home.

She was born Sept. 3, 1930, at the family farm in Wood County near Hoytville to Carl and Edna (Welson) Browning. She married Roger Hipsher on April 19, 1949, Roger's nineteenth birthday, at Hope Lutheran Church, Fostoria, and he preceded her in death in May, 2012.

LaVonne and Roger had three sons, Michael (Barbara) of Fostoria, Daniel (Susan) of Pawley's Island, South Carolina, and Ryan of Fostoria. LaVonne is also survived by the pride and joy of her later years, her five grandchildren, Andrew, Bryan (Lena), Amanda Albright (Marshall), Mark (Amanda), and Marlena; and six great-grandchildren, Zoe, Hugo, Teo, Hailee, Brooklynn, and Hudson.

LaVonne was preceded in death by three sisters, Bernice Shontz-Lee, Virginia Williams, and Judy Browning; and two brothers who were stillborn.

LaVonne attended school in Bloomdale until her junior year when she transferred to Fostoria High School and graduated in 1948. She worked at The Gray Printing Company, retiring in 1990 after 25 years of service. She was a member of Jane Washington Chapter of DAR, Daughters of Union Veterans, Fostoria Genealogy Society, and Hope 60. Lavonne was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Fostoria, for 75 years.

She enjoyed researching her family history through genealogy, was an award-winning quilter, and loved sitting in the surf's edge looking for shark's teeth in the sand at Myrtle Beach and Gulf Shores. Most of all though, she loved her family and in her 92 years, she never put herself first. It was always for family.

LaVonne's funeral will be 12 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2023, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be at Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria, with the Rev. Robin Kapostasy officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to Hope Lutheran Church.

Vonnie was my Aunt Selma Hayes' best friend. When Selma was dying of cancer back in 1972, she waited until Vonnie had her last child. Now they are reunited.
