Lawrence (“Larry”) Barr Goodheart passed away peacefully at home in Hampton, CT, after a two-year battle with cancer. He was born in 1944 in Washington DC to Clarence Goodheart and Margaret (Barr) Goodheart.
Larry will be remembered as a passionate orator and writer, working most recently as a Professor of History at the University of Connecticut. He was dedicated to his local community, particularly the Willimantic Food Co-op. He enjoyed gardening and was known for his expansive and productive gardens and orchard. He also enjoyed hiking, birdwatching, and continually expanding his knowledge through reading.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Embardo of Hampton, CT, his daughter Anna Goodheart, of Boston, MA, and his sister Carol Allen, of Seattle, WA, and her family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Larry to Joshua’s Trust (https://joshuastrust.org/tributes-memorials/) to help preserve the local woods in which he enjoyed spending time.
