Lloyd Kiesel Obituary
Lloyd Jacob Kiesel, 98, of Tiffin, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, at the Willows at Tiffin.
Lloyd was born June 8, 1924, in Hopewell Township, to the late Carl and Alma (Staib) Kiesel. He married Velma (Barr) on Oct. 8, 1950, in Fremont, and she preceded him in death Nov. 14, 2011.
Lloyd's survivors include his children, Diann Kiesel, PhD, of Peoria, Arizona, Lucinda Kiesel of Tiffin, Rebecca (Kevin) Mullins of O'Fallon, Missouri, Amy Kiesel of Muncie, Indiana, and Mark (Amy) Kiesel of Peoria, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Amanda and Christian Kiesel, Danielle (Jesse) Miller, Benjamin Mullins, and Ella, Evan, and Elizabeth Kiesel; four great-grandchildren, Benjamin Mullins, Lincoln and William Miller, and Lucian Brown; two sisters-in-law, Hilda Kiesel of Tiffin and 100-year-old Doris Knaack of Madison, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
Lloyd retired from National Machinery after 42 years with the company as an assembler. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and Masonic Lodge. Lloyd was an U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II in New Guinea. Lloyd was a loving and very devoted husband as demonstrated by the picture button of his wife he continued to wear after her death. Lloyd grew up on a farm and continued to help his parents on the farm. He enjoyed tractors, planes, and classic cars. He was very creative and a master tinkerer. Lloyd was curious about many things and enjoyed Latin and chemistry in high school.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Armin (Helen) Kiesel and Harvey Kiesel; and sister, Anna Mary (John) Goetz.
Lloyd's funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, Tiffin. Visitation for family and friends will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow services Tuesday at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.shookfamilyfh.com.
