Louis Kish Obituary

Louis "Sweet Lou" Kish

Louis "Sweet Lou" A. Kish, 80, of Fostoria, passed away peacefully at 7:02 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, with his family by his side.

He was born Oct. 13, 1942, in Findlay, to Louis and Lydia (Nagy) Kish. He married Geri Kawai on Oct. 10, 1964, in Arcadia, and she survives him.

He is also survived by four children, Davena (James) Schumaker of Bloomdale, Louis L. Kish of Las Vegas, Nevada, John K. (Tasha) Kish, of Thousand Oaks, California, and Joseph K. Kish of Fostoria; eight grandchildren, Suzanne (Lexi) Miller, Raymond Atchison, Nicholas (Morgan Smith) Schumaker, Luke Kish, Zed Kish, Noah Sturm, Layne Martin, and Daniel Kish; four great-grandchildren, Duke Miller, Kai Kish, Theo Kish, and Zhylian Kish; sister, Lou Ann (Bill) Henry of Las Vegas, Nevada; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Polly Burrell.

Sweet Lou was an Arcadia High School graduate. He served in U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, stationed in Pensacola, Florida, during the Bay of Pigs Invasion. He worked for Corbin Corporation as an inside customer service manager in their Maumee office for over 25 years, retiring in 2000. He and Geri then owned and operated The Greek Garden, and Sweet Lou's House of Blues in Findlay. He was a huge dog fan and was especially fond of his emotional support dog, Penny. Whereas Lou was a jack-of-all trades and could tinker with and fix just about anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family who was most important to him.

Private arrangements have been entrusted to Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hancock County Humane Society, Findlay Cancer Patient Services, or Fisher House in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Online expressions of sympathy may be made by visiting www.hoeningfuneralhome.com.
