Louis Mathias Obituary

Louis F. Mathias Jr.

Louis F. Mathias Jr., 84, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024, in Frankfort, Kentucky.

He was born Jan. 23, 1940, to Louis F. Mathias Sr. and Beulah C. (Lee) Mathias, who preceded him in death. Louis grew up in a close-knit family and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Howard W. Mathias and Richard Hartzell; and sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and James Roberts and Judy and Don Bish.

Louis is survived by his loving wife, Judith Mathias; brothers, Joseph M. Mathias, John W. Mathias (Jill), and Robert E. Mathias; sisters, Donna C. Pryor and Carol (Dennis) Scherger; sister-in-law, Carolyn Mathias; and many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

A proud alumnus of McCutchenville School, Tiffin Columbian High School, Heidelberg College (class of 1975), and Salmon P. Chase College of Law (class of 1984), Louis dedicated his life to public service and the field of law. His career spanned several key positions including roles at Tiffin Police Department, Seneca County Sheriff Department, Fostoria Police Department, BCI, and State of Kentucky Attorney General's Office.

Louis served with distinction in U.S. Marine Corps, embodying the Corps' values of honor, courage, and commitment. His military service was a significant part of his life and character.

Despite the family's grief, there will be no services as per Louis' wishes.

His legacy of service, both in the military and in civic life, as well as his dedication to law and order, will be remembered by all who knew him.
