Luke Riesen Obituary

Luke A. Riesen

Luke Andrew Riesen, 43, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Ohio State Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital, Columbus, with his loving family by his side.

Luke was born Oct. 16, 1979, to Mark and Diane (Ranker) Riesen in Tiffin, where he would spend his life and later raise his own family.

Luke was the big brother to Brent and Pamela and proud uncle to four nieces and nephews. He married his high school sweetheart, Sara (Burgderfer) on Sept. 29, 2001. Best friends, Luke and Sara created a beautiful life of nearly 30 years side-by-side. Together, they had two incredible boys, Braden and Jace. Being a father to them was by far Luke's greatest joy and achievement.

Luke spent the majority of his professional career as Director of Sales and Business Development at Palfinger North America. Despite his countless work achievements, Luke was most proud of the teamwork and relationships he built with his coworkers along the way.

Luke was a great father to his boys, smart, caring and had a razor-sharp wit. He was the first person to help someone in crisis, was extremely organized, and had the best sense of humor. Luke looked you in the eyes when he spoke and gave wise advice beyond his years. If he called you a friend, you knew he had your back.

Luke was preceded in death by his mother, Diane; brother, Brent; and grandparents, Norman and Patricia Ranker and Armin (Pete) and Kathleen Riesen.

Luke was so grateful for Mercy of Tiffin's Cardiology team and OSU Ross Heart Hospital's second floor that made his treatment and care as easy and as comfortable as possible.

Luke will be deeply missed. To celebrate his life, please join his family from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Ironwood Restaurant. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
