Margaret Elchert Obituary

Margaret Mary Elchert

Margaret Mary Elchert, 90, of Tiffin, passed away peacefully at 12:32 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024, at Bluebird Retirement Community, Marysville.

She was born Aug. 23, 1934, in Tiffin, to John J. and Mary C. (Fredritz) Loesser. She married Robert E. Elchert on Aug. 27, 1955, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Robert died Dec. 20, 2005.

Margaret's survivors include three sons, Nicholas (Kathy) Elchert of Port Clinton and Stephen (Carrie) Elchert and Gregory (Carrie) Elchert, both of Tiffin; two daughters, Karen Elchert and Brenda (Brian) Kocak, both of Dublin; eight grandchildren, Heather Hess, Jessica Szymanowski, Lindsey Johnson, Holly Harner, Brian Kocak Jr., Bethany Kocak Heinze, Tracy Elchert, and Madison Elchert; 11 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, David (Anna) Loesser of Sterling Heights, Michigan, Thomas (Rita) Loesser of Port Clinton, and William (Cris) Loesser of Charlotte, North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Arthur, Edwin, Paul, and James Loesser; and sister, Ann Kummerer.

Margaret was a 1952 graduate of Calvert High School and then became an X-ray technician at Mercy Hospital. She met the love of her life, Robert, while performing in one-act plays at St. Joseph's Auditorium. She and Robert were married for 50 years. After raising her five children, Margaret went to work for Sears Roebuck in Tiffin, working in different departments. She ended up as the attendant for the automotive department and was given the nickname of Mrs. Goodwrench where she retired in 1993. She was a devoted life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Catholic Ladies of Columbia.

Margaret and Robert loved to travel and spend time at their place on the shores of Lake Erie outside of Port Clinton. They enjoyed boating, fishing, entertaining, and relaxing in the sun on their deck overlooking the lake. They also bowled in the couple's league at Tiffin Knights of Columbus. After Robert died, Margaret enjoyed coloring and painting. She was an Elvis Presley and Tom Jones fan and saw both in concert. She was a collector of Emmitt Kelly Jr.

Karen and family how lucky you were to have a beautiful and loving mother. Prayers for you all. Mrs. Elchert was my brownie leader. Sorry I cannot come to services as I just had a hip replacement. Thinking of you Karen my friend.

Dear Karen

I am so deeply sorry to hear about your mom's passing. I have so many cherished memories of our time together, like those days we skipped school and the fun parties we had. Remembering all of the notes we wrote in study hall and pizza villa.

Please know that I'm here for you during this difficult time. If you need someone to talk to or share memories with, I´m just a message away.

Sending you love and strength,

Helen Hartzell Guinther
