Margaret Kime Obituary

Margaret M. "Maggie" Kime

Margaret M. "Maggie" Kime, 95, of Bucyrus, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 23, 2024, under the care of Gentiva Hospice.

She was born Jan. 23, 1929, in Tiffin, to Albert P. and Dorothy M, (King) Slosser. Her father passed when she was three years old, leaving her to be raised by a single mother during the Great Depression.

Maggie was a 1946 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School and attended Heidelberg College. While working at Tiffin Art Metal Company, she met Richard O. Kime and they married Oct. 2, 1954, and he preceded her in death Dec. 29, 2003.

Maggie raised their six children and helped at the family business, O.F. Kime Lumber Company. She and Dick were constantly on the road, attending as many events as possible for their children and grandchildren. She was a longtime board member for both Garden Club of Ohio and Culver Mother's Club. She and Dick were recognized in 1987 as "Parents of the Year" by the Culver Parent's Club.

The couple enjoyed traveling with friends. They also took in many Cleveland Browns games and their family created many fond memories at their cottage on Walton Lake.

Maggie's greatest passions were playing bridge and gardening. Always up for a game of bridge, she enjoyed socializing with new and old friends. She spent countless hours tending to her plants and flowers, her favorites were daffodils and alliums.

Maggie is survived by her daughters, Karen Leibengood of Bucyrus and Gretchen (Mark) Heminger of Tiffin; sons, Stephen of Chicago, Illinois, John (Lynn) of Bucyrus, William (Terri) of Firestone, Colorado, and Robert (Ashley) of Loomis, California; grandchildren, Kristin (Zach) Hale, Kyle (Alexa) Heminger, Laura (Mike Tomkiewicz) Heminger, Joshua (Shannon) Kime, John (Tiffany) Kime, Andrew (Marisa Whittenberg) Kime, Michael (Leslie) Kime, Gabby Kime, Alex Kime, and Caden Kime; and four great-grandchildren, Harrison, Catherine, Alejandro, and Sharon.

Maggie was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Albert V. Slosser; and son-in-law, Daniel Leibengood.

Maggie's family will celebrate her life privately and she will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery.

If desired, donations can be made payable to Friends of the Crawford Park District and will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service.

Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on the guestbook of Maggie's tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.

Maggie will be missed.
She was so sweet. I remember taking her and Betty Foulk to play bridge many times. They were such a blessing for each other. They had a great friendship. Prayers for the Kime family as they go through this tough time.
