Margaret A. Phelps

Margaret A. Phelps, 74, of Tiffin, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, at Elmwood at The Shawhan in Tiffin.

Margaret was born Sept. 19, 1950, in Tiffin to the late Raymond and Nona (Kuhn) Hoover. She married Larry R. Phelps on Nov. 1, 1980, in Tiffin, and he preceded her in death Oct. 15, 2021.

Survivors include her son, Jeffrey (Mara) Hoover of Granville; a grandson, Jace Hoover of Granville; three brothers, Wayne (Sara) Wax and Stephen (Kayleen) Hoover, both of Tiffin and Eugene Hoover of Ligonier, Indiana; a brother-in-law, Charles W. Weininger of Tiffin; a sister-in-law, Randa Hoover of Milford, Indiana; an aunt, Marilyn Anderson of Tiffin; and many nieces and nephews.

Margaret worked as a secretary at Essex and office manager for HG Handling. She was a St. Mary Catholic Church member and a 1968 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School. She enjoyed watching OSU Football, New York Yankees, and Dallas Cowboys. Margaret also enjoyed listening to music, going to car shows, and swap meets with her husband, Larry.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Dennis and David Hoover; three sisters, Alice Dougherty, Nancy Weininger and Susan Hoover; and a brother-in-law, Charles Dougherty.

Funeral services for Margaret will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home with the Rev. Matthew Rader officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at St. Mary's cemetery.
