Margaret Smith Obituary

Margaret "Meg" Smith

Margaret "Meg" Smith, 60, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday, Nov 10, 2024, at Mercy Health - Tiffin Hospital.

Meg was born May 21, 1964, in Steubenville. She was the beloved daughter of John T. Gilmore and Karen D. (Tosi) Dieguez, who preceded her in death. She married Kurt A. Smith on Aug. 4, 1990, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin and he survives in Tiffin.

Meg is also survived by her daughter, Krista Moreno of Tiffin; granddaughter, Addison Moreno of Tiffin; sisters, Beth Gilmore of Florida and Amy (Greg) Martien of Longmont, Colorado; stepdad, Louis Dieguez of Tiffin; some close nieces and nephews; and a host of loving friends and extended family who will deeply miss her.

Meg worked as a certified medical coding specialist for 25 years. She graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1982, attended Toledo University, and finished her associate's degree in business administration from Tiffin University.

Meg was known for her warmth and love for all. She was a cherished member of AMVETS, Elks, Eagles, and Knights of Columbus, where she found true joy in the camaraderie and friendships that blossomed over the years. Her friends in these organizations will fondly remember how she relished raising a glass and sharing laughter, kindness, and care for others. As an avid fan of karaoke, she was often the life of the party. She loved sharing good times, especially over a drink. Her spirit was one of generosity and cheer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Anthony Coci officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass at church. Visitation for family and friends will be 3-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, Tiffin. Burial will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor's choice.
