Margie Siegle Obituary

Margie A. Siegle

Our beloved mother, Margie Ann (Morter) Siegle of New Riegel, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the age of 93. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving daughters and family who tenderly cared for her during the past 14 years as she bravely faced dementia.

Margie was born September 21, 1932, on the family farm near Melmore, the fifth of six children born to David and Florence (Webster) Morter. On May 22, 1965, she married her husband, Karl Siegle, at Melmore United Methodist Church. They shared 36 years of marriage before his passing February 24, 2002. Together, they raised four daughters, three of whom survive, Dr. Carol (Jeff) McDannell, Cheryl Siegle, and Barbara (Frank) Letterly, all of Tiffin. She is also survived by her cherished granddaughter, Alyssa (Connor) Stocker of Tiffin; her sister-in-law, Avanell Morter of Tiffin; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Karl; her daughter, Karla Siegle; and her siblings, Ted (Dorothy) Morter, Blanche (Jim) Hurley, Betty (Harley) Hurley, Lester Morter, and Alice (Ray) Luhring.

A 1951 graduate of Melmore High School, Margie also attended Tiffin University. She worked as a secretary for Sterling and for Seneca County Soil and Water Conservation District before embracing her true calling as a devoted wife and mother. Margie and Karl instilled in their daughters the belief that with faith in God and hard work, they could accomplish anything.

Margie lived that example daily. She was active in her children's and granddaughter's lives, volunteering at their schools and serving on the PTO. She was a 4-H advisor for Lucky Homemakers Club, a member of Melmore Mother's Club, and participated in United Methodist Women's group at her church. Margie enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, shopping, and traveling.

Margie was a lifelong and faithful member of the Melmore United Methodist Church. She was actively involved at her church, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Margie served on various church committees. Her faith never wavered. She entered heaven after her family sang "I Surrender All."

Family and friends may visit from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio (419-447-2424).

A celebration of Margie's life will be at 11 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2025, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Her daughter, Pastor Barb Letterly, will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Memorial contribu-tions may be made to Melmore United Methodist Church or donor's choice.
