Marilyn Marie (Steinmetz) Hoffman
Marilyn Marie (Steinmetz) Hoffman, 78, of Fostoria, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, Oct. 19, 2022, at her home.
She was born July 23, 1944, in Fostoria, to the late Irvin C. and Marie A. (Holman) Steinmetz. She married Lawrence James Hoffman on Aug. 24, 1963, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and he preceded her in death last year.
Surviving are children, Larry (Marcy) Hoffman of Bluffton, Marlene Gillig of Fostoria, Mark (Teresa Brossia) Hoffman of Fostoria, and Lori (Frankie) Schaffier of Fostoria; grandchildren, Stuart (Samantha) Holman, Morgan (Isaac) Heiser, Megan (Anthony) Ferguson, Ross Sears, Madison Gillig, Jake Hoffman, Ellie Hoffman, Nolan Hoffman, Ethan Hoffman, Shannon (Mark) Bancroft, Frankie (Alyssa) Schaffier III, and Ashley Schaffier; sister, Kathleen (Dave) Krupp of Tiffin; brother, Thomas (Joan) Steinmetz of Fostoria; dear sisters-in-law, Mary Lou (Wayne) Stults and Agnes (Dave) Peiffer, all of Fremont; and 15 great-grandchildren she was blessed with, Kendall, Parker, Michael and Jack, Liam, Marleigh and Annaleigh, Mia, Frankie, Abigail, Jackson, Julianna, Jayden, Ava, and Andrew.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dave Gillig; and brothers, James (Genniel) Steinmetz and Joseph (Vicki) Steinmetz.
After graduating from Lakota High School in 1962, Mrs. Hoffman worked at Harvey's Pharmacy and then was a homemaker. She attended St. Wendelin Catholic Church and enjoyed visiting shut-ins and helping others.
One of her favorite pastimes was spending time with her children and grandchildren, attending their many activities and sporting events. She also cherished baking and sharing cookies with her grandchildren, camping with family and friends, playing cards and games, and trips to Amish Country â€" all passions she has passed down to her loved ones.
She'll be remembered and missed for her big, beautiful heart, which was always putting others first and sending up prayers for their safety, happiness, and well-being, as well as her recent "no-filter" attitude, which gave her family many laughs over the past couple of years.
Marilyn's funeral will be 12 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2022, at Hoening & Son Funeral Home, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio, 44830, with Fr. Ed Schleter presiding. Burial will follow at St. Wendelin Cemetery, Fostoria. Visitation will be 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
