Mervin L. Lofton

Mervin L. Lofton, 92, of Tiffin, passed away Friday evening, July 21, 2023, at his home.

He was born Sept. 16, 1930, in Bloomville, to Chester and Mable (Shiley) Lofton. He married Edna J. Adair on April 11, 1952, and she preceded him in death March 30, 1989.

Mervin's survivors include his sons, Kenneth (Julie) Lofton of Vanlue, Kevin Lofton of Tiffin, and Scott (Lori) Lofton of New Albany; daughters, Jeanne Barnett and Dianna Criblez, both of Tiffin, and Terri Stancil of Reno, Nevada; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and sister, Joyce Runion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mervin "Butch" Lofton Jr.; brothers, Ray Eldon, Dalton, and Charles; sisters, Clarabelle Cantrell and Mary Fitch; and granddaughter, Amanda Criblez.

Mervin graduated in 1949 from Bloomville High School. In high school, he was President of the Glee Club and captain of the baseball team. While in high school, he enlisted in United States National Guard and served honorably from 1948-1966. In 1955, Mervin started working at Whirlpool and after 34 years, retired in 1989. He was a member of Tiffin Moose Lodge 846 and received the Assistant Secretary Award. Mervin enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, supporting his kids and grandkids activities, and loved playing Hide-N-Seek with his grandkids.

Mervin's funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2023, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 46 Madison Street, Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, with Pastor Charlene Thomas officiating.

Visitation for friends and family will be 9-11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor's choice.
