Michael H. Smith

Michael H. Smith, 69, of Findlay, died at 10:04 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025, in the emergency room at ProMedica Memorial Hospital, Fremont. He was born in Hanover, Pennsylvania, September 28, 1955, to Glenn and Loretta (Bowers) Smith. He married Anne (Bray) Smith August 1, 1995, and she survives in Findlay.

Surviving are the following children, Sheri (Bryan) Clouse, Sycamore, Jonathan (Michelle) McSherley, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and David (Kay) McSherley, Sycamore; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Scott (Ellen) Smith, Atlanta, Georgia; and a sister, Winifried (Dave) Evans, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Michael was a retired United Church of Christ minister, having served churches in Pennsylvania and Indiana for 27 years.

He was a 1973 graduate of Cumberland Valley High School in New Kingstown, Pennsylvania. He was also a graduate of Penn State University, Harrisburg Campus and a 1998 graduate of Lancaster Theological Seminary, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

He was a member of the Reading Buccaneers Drum and Bugle Corps. They competed in numerous contests, and one year they finished second in the World Competition. At one time, when he lived in New Kingstown, Pennsylvania, he served as a volunteer fireman. He loved going hunting and fishing, stamp collecting, jewelry making and playing games on his computer.

Memorial graveside service for Michael will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Bethel Cemetery, McCutchenville, with the Rev. Daniel Busch officiating.
