Myrna Casler Obituary

Myrna Mae Casler

Myrna Mae Casler, 87, a vibrant soul, passed away peacefully Nov. 3, 2024, in Fremont, Ohio.

She was born Jan. 2, 1937, in Madison, Minnesota and carried with her a deep love for her home state of South Dakota.

She is survived by her children, Dawn Casler Reamer, Jay Casler, and Carah Casler; sister, Nyla (Chuck) McIntyre of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two nephews, Wade and Kevin of South Dakota; cousins, Dennis and Harlan Wick, and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henrietta and Lloyd Marquette; her ex-husband; and friend, Mel Casler.

There was never any grass growing under Myrna's feet. Myrna was always on the go and a social butterfly who lived a full life and gathered friends wherever she went. She left behind a wide circle of loved ones, including her close-knit Al-Anon community, who will miss her friendship and laughter. Her adventurous spirit brought her to Maine and Ohio, and also led her to the stunning landscapes of Hawaii, Alaska, and Florida. Her love of travel was an important part of her life, inspiring her to explore and make memories in places she cherished.

A lover of motorcycles, Myrna found her freedom on two wheels. With her bike and helmet, she took on highways, and country roads with a sense of wonder, and strength. An accomplished quilter and seamstress, Myrna created cherished quilts, and hand sewn items for her children, herself and friends, each piece a testament to her love and skill. Her sewing talents extended to altering, and sewing clothes, and making intricate, appliquéd clothing that she sold at craft fairs. She also dedicated her time and heart to sewing, knitting and crocheting for "preemies" and others in need, touching countless lives through her handmade gifts.

A woman of many talents, Myrna had a deep love for music, and dance. She played clarinet in many community bands, was a gifted pianist, and even learned in her later years the dulcimer, bringing music into every chapter of her life. Her passion for dance led her to clogging, line dancing, and square dancing, where she delighted in each lively step and shared her joy with others. In addition to her creative pursuits, Myrna enjoyed playing card games and reading. Bridge, canasta, euchre, and mahjong brought her together with friends and family for hours of fun and competition.

Myrna's warmth, creativity, and zest for life will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and lasting friendships, and her memory will be cherished in the hearts of her children, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.

There will be no services at this time.

Carah and Family,
My Deepest Condolences and Prayers are with you all .
I've known Myrna since Carah and Shari hung out in school. She sure didn't let any dust settle under her feet. I remember her telling me about her clogging, motorcycle riding and with such excitement! I got my Rhubarb Crunch recipe from her.
Recently, we got re-aquanted at Al-Anon. Myrna was so wise. I'll miss her.
God Bless
