Nettie J. Grine

Nettie J. Grine, 79, of Fostoria, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.

She was born June 11, 1944, in Fostoria, to Robert Neal and Nettie V. (Shook) Banks. She married James E. Grine on April 6, 1967, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, and he preceded her in death July 22, 2001.

Nettie is survived by her life partner, James Lowery of Fostoria; son, Michael D. Leal of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter, Carol Jean Fry of Texas; five grandchildren, Michael Christian Leal, Brandon James Leal, Anthony Patrick Leal, Allysandria Marie Leal, and Victoria Michelle Leal; 11 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Sharon Brewington, Mary (Stefen) Partlow of Bowling Green, Robert Banks of Fostoria, Daniel (Phyllis) Banks, John (Carol) Banks, William (Shari) Banks, and Cindy (Jerry) Hopson.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Morgan Leal; and siblings, Rita Edinger, Kevin and Bevin Banks, Ronnie Banks, Jim Spangler, George Spangler, and Bobbie Jean Dutiel.

Nettie retired from Fostoria Community Hospital as a dietician after 43 years of service. She was a 1962 graduate of St. Wendelin High School, member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Eagles, and VFW, and former member of the Moose. She enjoyed camping at Walnut Grove, dancing, going out to dinner, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Nettie had a big heart and was loved by all.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023, at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio, 44830, where a Vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. Burial will follow at St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
