Norman Earls, Sr. Obituary

Norman Fred Earls Sr., 81, from Bay Minette AL, entered heavenly life the morning of April 10, 2025, passing away peacefully after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Sandra Hutto Earls; his parents, Gordon and Doris Earls; his sister and her husband, Jane and Alfred Denmark, and other beloved relatives and friends.

He is survived by his 4 children; Norman “Fred” Earls (Danita) of Valdosta, Georgia; Harvey Earls (Sarah) of Loxley, Alabama, Keith Earls (Natasha) of Palmyra, Pennsylvania, and Candyce Crowell (Mike) of Alabaster, Alabama; as well as 9 grandchildren: Kiera, Melea, Grace, Ben, Kayleigh, Zoe, Lily, Ivy, and Vera.

He is further survived by his brother, Darwin Earls (Ellen) of Bay Minette, Alabama, as well as his wife Sandra’s brother, Raymond Hutto (Marci) of Bessemer, Alabama.

The love of Norman’s life was Jesus, followed by his college sweetheart and wife Sandra, who passed away in June of 2017. Following her passing, he longed to depart to his heavenly home, and yet still found purpose and ministry in life through working with the Baldwin Rural Area Transportation System, attending his sons’ churches in Robertsdale and then in Valdosta, and showing love to family and friends.

Norman was an ordained minister of the Assemblies of God. He pastored churches in Daphne, Alabama; Edenton, North Carolina; Bay Minette, Alabama; and Andalusia, Alabama, and was on staff in earlier years in Lakeland, Florida, where he received his degree from Southeastern University. He preached at every opportunity right up until the time of his stroke in 2020, and was known as a well-balanced preacher, “rightly handling the Word of God” with competent exposition, personal illustrations, passion, and humor. He had a particular love of the minor prophets, as well as the books of prophecy such as Daniel and Revelation.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 11am at Bethel Baptist Church, 22250 US Highway 90, Robertsdale, Alabama with Rev. Harvey Earls officiating, with the family receiving visitors for one hour prior to the service beginning at 10am. Nothing about the cemetery service here.
