Orville Oty Obituary
Orville "Oty" Oty, age 87 of Cardington died Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. He was born on November 7, 1934, in Washington Court House to Orville and Margaret (Ober) Oty who preceded him in death.
Oty retired from Shelly & Sands, he had previously worked for Decker & Decker, SC Johnson, and 26 years at Ohio Road Paving Co.
Oty enjoyed crafting, woodworking, cutting his grass, bird watching, watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. Oty loved his family and cherished spending time with them.
On May 26, 1954, Oty married Nancy Lee Workman in Liberty, Indiana, she preceded him in death on October 2, 1981. On January 14, 1983, he married Sandra Jean Sexton Waddell in Cardington, she preceded him in death on January 7, 2022.
Oty is survived by his children: Teresa Oty of Gahanna, Rhonda (Joe) Oty Everhart of Baltimore OH., Orville Wayne (Neal Raffensberger) Oty of Columbus, Martin Oty of Columbus, and Todd (Vicki White) Oty of Mosheim, TN; and two children from his second wife Sandra Jean, Scott (Tracy Faust) Waddell of Cardington, and D. Kelly (Leiann) Waddell of Delaware, son-in-law Tom Adams of Cardington, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, his first wife Nancy and his wife Sandra, Oty was preceded in death from his second wife by, daughter Gina Adams, his two brothers Calvin Oty and John Oty and his two sisters Ruth Martindill and Norma Jean See.
Friends may call on Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will directly follow at 3:00 PM. A graveside service will take place Monday, September 19, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Washington Cemetery, 1741 Washington Ave., Washington Court House, 43160.
