Paul Groth Obituary

Paul James "Jim" Groth

Paul James "Jim" Groth, 78, of Findlay passed away after a brief illness Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.

He was born Nov. 13, 1944, in Findlay, to the late Paul H. and M. Marjorie (Chapman) Groth.

Jim is survived by his wife, Diane M. (Russell) Groth, whom he married on Dec. 22, 1973, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Upper Sandusky; son, Charles P. (Kimberly) Groth of Bloomville; grandchildren Neil, Cecilia, and Jonathan Groth; and sister, Mary S. Groth of Upper Sandusky.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, John Groth, and Joseph Groth who died in infancy.

Jim was a 1962 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and later completed a Bachelor of Science degree in computer analysis from Findlay College. He retired in 2013 after more than 40 years at Whirlpool. He was a member of Journey at Christ Church in Findlay, NRA, and American Legion.

Jim rarely left the house without a hat, usually a wide-brimmed variety that made him easy to spot in a crowd. He enjoyed hunting and outdoor activities. Every year, Jim looked forward to his November hunting trip and visit with close friend and fellow Vietnam veteran, Denny Dodge of Minnesota. When grandchildren entered the picture, they became the center of Jim's world. He had the ability to be a bit grumpy and stubborn at times, but the grandchildren always brought a smile.

Private services will take place with interment to follow at Arcadia Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Blanchard Valley Hospital and Bridge Hospice for their care and compassion. Jim has been granted his wish to go home and he is happy now.

So sorry to hear of Paul's passing. Worked with Paul at whirlpool and remember him as 'Star'. For the longest time i thought his name was Paul Star! Paul was part of our breakfest club too. We have lots of fond memories of our days at work and he will be missed. God speed Paul.
