Leonard Douglas Obituary

Leonard Stanley Douglas died peacefully on May 13 at age 98 in Delray Beach, FL, surrounded by loving family. Raised in the Catskills town of Fleischmanns, NY, he was a graduate of City College and Brooklyn Law School, as well as a CPA. During World War II, he served as a mortar gunner in Europe with the U.S. Army 87th Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. In his professional life, he was the managing partner at the Manhattan office of Laventhal & Horwath, an international accounting firm. In his retirement, he excelled in his roles as a consultant and an arbitrator. Throughout his life, he was a paragon of discipline, intelligence and family devotion. Known for his acumen and incredible memory, in 98 years no detail ever escaped him. A fine golfer, he enjoyed acrostics and traveling with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Elaine Kraus Douglas; by his sons Dr. Barry (Kim) and Prof. Lawrence (Nancy Pick) Douglas; and by his five grandchildren: Lauren, Robert (Aimee), Marc (Katie), Jacob and Milo.
