Phyllis M. LaRue

Phyllis M. LaRue, 89, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022, at her residence in Lykens. Phyllis was born Jan. 25, 1933, in Lykens Township, to the late H. Edward and Mary (Feasel) Schimpf. She married Herbert LaRue on Sept. 29, 1949.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Connie (Reid) Thomas of Lykens, Peggy (Dennis) DeTray of Tiffin, Becky (Daniel) Weisenauer of Lykens, Sandy Brown of Marion, Charity (Kevin) Odey of Findlay, and Jeff LaRue of Lykens.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Ernie LaRue; and sisters, Barbara Jacobs and Patricia "Pat" Gerhart. She will be missed by her 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Phyllis was very active in her church, Tiffin Harmony United Methodist Church. She was a former member of The Community Club and Copperkettle Chorus. She was a lover of all dogs and enjoyed flower gardening, quilting, and attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities.

Phyllis' funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022, at Tiffin Harmony United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Padula and Pastor Brian Odey officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2022, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home, Tiffin. Additional visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at Tiffin Harmony United Methodist Fellowship Hall. Burial will follow the services at Freewill Baptist Cemetery, Lykens. Engle-Shook Funeral Home, 135 N. Washington St., Tiffin, is assisting family with arrangements.
