Ralph M. Szablewski

Ralph M. Szablewski, 88, of Tiffin, passed away Friday evening, Sept. 13, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born July 13, 1936, in Tiffin to Edmund and Mary (Blaes) Szablewski. On August 22, 1959, he married Teresa Nye. They celebrated their 65th wedding Anniversary last month with their family.

Ralph was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a 1954 graduate of Calvert High School and worked at Whirlpool for 29 years. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Ralph loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and watching Ridiculousness. He was a storyteller, often reflecting on his earlier years. Ralph also enjoyed annual trips to Myrtle Beach, where he celebrated his 88th birthday earlier this year.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Szablewski, of Tiffin; children, Michael (Lee) Szablewski, of Tiffin, Lisa (Gary) Werling, of Waterville, Joseph (Rui) Szablewski, of Pensacola, Florida, Steven Szablewski, of Tiffin, Anne (David) Hu, of Grove City, David (Nina) Szablewski, of Dublin and Laura (Steven) Crumbacher, of Grove City; grandchildren, Anthony (Taylor) Szablewski, Aurora Szablewski and Andrea (Shawn) Neikirk, all of Tiffin, Alex (Raegen) Szablewski, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Michael Werling, of Findlay, Joseph Szablewski, of Orlando, Florida, Susan (Logan) Gordon, of Logan, Ryan (Hanna) Szablewski, Joshua Szablewski and Parker Szablewski, all of Tiffin, Nicole (Austin Burns) Davisson, of New Riegel, Jasper Hu and Adelaide Hu, both of Grove City, Drean Szablewski, of Dublin, Alexandra (Shane Allan) Crumbacher and Dominic Crumbacher, both of Grove City; great-grandchildren, River, Stetson, Mercedes, Gwen, Sebashtian, Isla, Thea, Maribel and Hudson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Louis and Edmund Szablewski; and sisters, Phyllis Sturdevant, Martha Lewis, Charlotte Schumm and Barbara Fair.

His Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes before Mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 2–8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, (419) 447-2424.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Calvert Catholic Schools.
