Richard P. "Dick" Anderson

Richard P. "Dick" Anderson, 89, of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at The Willows at Tiffin.

Dick was born May 19, 1936, in Tiffin, to Henry M. and Marie (Hoerig) Anderson. On November 1, 2021, he married Madeline R. Staib, who preceded him in death March 29, 2024.

Survivors include his daughters, Jane (Paul) Lyon of Ottawa Hills, Sarah Tomlinson of Easton, Pennsylvania and Karen (Tony) Staib of Gahanna; sons, John (Clare) Anderson of Vienna, Virginia, Paul (Patty) Anderson of Columbus, Pete (Lisa) Anderson of Bay Village and Mike Anderson of Tiffin; stepsons, Richard (Valerie) Staib of Jackson, Michigan, John Staib of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Tony (Karen) Staib of Gahanna; stepdaughter, Cheryl Staib-Lewis of Tiffin; only surviving sister, Florence Parkins of Tiffin; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles Anderson and Robert Anderson; and sisters, Mary Prindle, Marjorie Wilhelm and Helen Swartzmiller; and one grandchild.

Dick graduated from Calvert High School in 1954. He served in the United States Army from September 28, 1956 to September 28, 1958, stationed in Leipheim, Germany. Early in his career, Dick was a carpenter, building church pews, and later a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1991. He proudly said he had been retired longer than he had been a mail carrier. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Dick was a beloved father and grandfather to his children and their grandchildren. He loved attending their athletic games and events and quietly letting them know how much he cared about them. He was very handy with tools and often helped his children with their homes and taught them to do it themselves except for Paul and Pete who would teach him a few tricks. He loved playing cards, going to shows with Madeline and most of all, he loved his Cleveland Indians baseball team.
