Richard B. Beal, 82, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away on December 12, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 23, 1943, he was the son of the late Lawyer Beal and Willa Mae Blackwell Beal.
Richard was a devoted and longtime member of Second Baptist Church in Steubenville, where his faith guided his life and service. He faithfully served in many roles, including as a member and director of The Sons of Second, an usher, a Sunday School teacher, and a participant in the Brotherhood. His commitment to both church and community extended beyond the walls of the church, as he served on several boards throughout the city, with the Board of Education and SVRTA holding special meaning to him.
Richard attended Ohio State University and worked for several years with AT&T, where he retired as a technician. Following his retirement, he continued giving back to the community by tutoring students within the Steubenville City School System, quietly investing in the lives of local youth.
Richard was known as a gentle soul, steady in spirit, calm in demeanor, and always willing to lend his time and support to others. He loved the Lord and his church above all else, followed closely by his love for his family. In his leisure time, he enjoyed cheering on Big Red sports and the Cleveland Browns.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his son, Richard Michael Beal, and his sister, Nancy Jeffers.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, June Beal; his daughter, Jennifer Beal; his grandchildren, Megan Beal, Kennedy Logsdon (Kevin), and Riley Shelton (Amber); his great grandson, Damien Beal; his special niece, Angela Jeffers; his godchild, Lynne Simmons; and his longtime friend, John P. Barnes.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon at Second Baptist Church, 717 Adams Street, Steubenville, Ohio. Reverend Jeffrey Stanford will deliver the eulogy. Arrangements are entrusted to Gregory Martin Funeral Home.

I'm so sorry about Mr. Beal. He was like family as I knew him and the rest of the Beal family, my entire life. I remember that 3 young ladies who visited his home to receive well wishes before they went to participate in their home coming court at Big Red, all won!!! Lynn Simmons, Anita Simmons and my little sister Vonetta Jones were all crowned queen! We said he had the midas touch. I will miss knowing him and Michael are no longer in this world but will see them again in eternity! May our Lord and savior Jesus Christ the one and only TRUE GOD bless and comfort the family
