Richard Hudson Obituary

Richard C. "Dick" Hudson

Richard C. "Dick" Hudson, 85, of Carey, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Birchaven Village, Findlay.

Richard was born June 21, 1938, in Bucyrus, to Harry and Garnett (Gatchell) Hudson. His first marriage of 20 years was to Joyce Henry. He later married Darla (Bloom) Hughes, who still resides in Carey.

Richard is also survived by his children, Kimberly (Glenn) Orwig of Tiffin and Angelia (Rick) DiGioia of Mount Dora, Florida; stepchildren, Paula (Andrew Morano) Priest of Columbus and Corrill "Cory" Hughes of Carey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Steven Hudson.

Richard was a 1956 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and attended Heidelberg University. In 1970, Richard moved to Tiffin where he began his career with National Machinery LLC. While he worked in Material Control Department, one of his accomplishments was the development of an automated inventory control program that significantly increased production. In 1998, Richard retired after 30 years of service and became apart of Quarter Century Club. He was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carey, and Warpole Lodge of F&AM #176 and O.E.S. #366 of Upper Sandusky.

Richard enjoyed spending time in his woodworking shop and restoring classic cars. He was an animal lover who greatly enjoyed the outdoors. He cherished his time with his friends and family, as well as traveling for both business and pleasure. Richard was a talented musician that could play the piano and saxophone. His distinctive laugh would light up a room and his easygoing personality connected him with coworkers and friends in the community.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Birchaven Village and Bridge Hospice staff along with Pastor Loren Miracle with the exceptional care they provided for Richard.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Stombaugh-Batton & Snyder Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, Ohio 43316.
