Richard Kochel Obituary

Richard L. Kochel

Richard Louis Kochel, 96, of Attica, passed away Friday, May 12, 2023, at his residence.

Richard was born March 7, 1927, in Willard, Richmond Township, to Charles Bryan and Ida (Hershiser) Kochel. He married Marilyn (Marquart) on Nov. 13, 1954, in Deunquat.

Richard's survivors include his wife, Marilyn Kochel of Attica; children, Becky Kochel of Attica, Kenny (Nancy) Kochel of Attica, Dennis (Julie) Kochel of New Washington, Peggy Martin of Attica, Millie Lucius of Attica, Bryan Kochel of Attica, and Ben Kochel of Attica; 11 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Richard was a life-long farmer and also retired from Pioneer Industries. He was a U.S. Navy and Marine veteran serving during World War II and Korea. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Attica, and American Legion post 260. Richard enjoyed his garden and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard Kochel Jr.; son-in-law, Rocky Martin; two brothers, Charles and Harold Kochel; and two sisters, Hilda Seagram and Joyce Yacob.

There will be a private family graveside service at Bethel Cemetery.

Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home, Bloomville, is assisting family with arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Attica Veterans Memorial, Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Attica, or Avita Hospice.
