Richard C. Roth

Richard C. Roth, 72, of Attica, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022, at Avita Bucyrus Hospital.

Richard was born Jan. 13, 1950, in Willard, to the late John and Helen (Fox) Roth. He married Suzanne "Susie" Frankart in Republic and she survives in Attica.

Richard is also survived by a son, Maxwell (Krysta Fairclough, fiancé) Roth of Attica; daughter, Emily Roth Czech of Attica; granddaughter, Sofia Rose Czech of Attica; two brothers, Victor (Ann) Roth of Republic and Ray (Marjorie) Roth of Republic; two sisters, Rita (Richard) Blum of Willard and Donna (Dennis) Enders of Attica; sister-in-law, Sarah Wurm of Attica; and three brothers-in-law, Norman Emerine of Fostoria, Tony Frankart of Bloomville, and Gene Frankart of Attica.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Lorena Emerine and Kathleen Studer.

Richard worked as a brakeman for 37 years for Norfolk Southern Railroad in Bellevue, retiring in 2010. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica, United Transportation Union, and Attica American Legion Post #260. He was an U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed wood carving, cutting fire wood, playing Euchre, playing dominoes every night with his wife, watching NASCAR, especially spending time with his granddaughter, Sofia, and helping his son, Maxwell. He was a 1969 graduate of Attica High School.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Attica, with the Rev. Ted Miller officiating. Burial will follow at St. Stephens Catholic Cemetery in St. Stephens. Attica American Legion Post #260 will conduct military graveside services. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, at Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR. 19, Bloomville.

Words do not provide comfort at times like these and all we can offer are our deepest sympathies to Suzanne and the entire Roth Family for your loss. Rich stayed with our family in Washington State for some time after he got out of the Navy; I am so thankful that we got to visit with him when we were in Ohio.
