Ronald L. "Ron" Burkett

Ronald L. Burkett, 76, of Tiffin, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025, at his home.

He was born August 4, 1948, in Tiffin to Harold R. and Clara V. (Huss) Burkett. On August 9, 1969, he married Barbara Wright and she preceded him in death January 9, 2017.

Survivors include his son, Aaron (Shantelle) Burkett of Tiffin; brothers, Larry (Cindy) Burkett of Akron and Richard "Ric" Burkett of Tiffin; sister, Connie (Chuck) Michael of Cincinnati; and two grandchildren, Colin Burkett and Trace Elling.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Staci Biller; son-in-law, Roger Biller; and granddaughter, Megan Burkett.

Ron graduated in 1966 from New Riegel High School, in 1970 from Heidelberg College, and in 1976 from The University of Toledo. He was a teacher/band director for 21 years with Tiffin City Schools at Noble, East Junior High, and Columbian High School, and for 9 years in Oak Harbor, retiring in June of 2000. Ron was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and director of the church choir for years. His love of music started at a young age. He played in The Burkett Trio with his brothers, performing in talent shows, winning first place, and playing on "The Gene Carroll Show." From 1967 through 1979, he was a member of "The Jades." Known for their wild, bright shirts, the band played all over Northwest Ohio. After retirement, he sang in the choir at Allen Eiry Senior Center, volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, was a member of Tiffin Moose, and enjoyed golfing and traveling.

Per his wishes, he will be cremated. There will be no formal church service.

Graveside service will be at noon Saturday, March 1, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
