Ruby Marie Tomsey

Ruby Marie (Koontz) Tomsey, 93, of Tiffin, died at 7:40 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022, at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin. She was born Dec. 16, 1928, in Fremont, to Hess and Alice (Stout) Koontz. She married Stanley Frank Tomsey on May 1, 1951, in Tiffin. He died in 1973.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Tonya (Artie) Myers, Jeremy (Melissa) Fox, and Candie (Joe) Cunningham, all of Tiffin, John Robinson of Hondo, Texas, and Paul (Kristi) Landers II of Tiffin; 10 great-grandchildren, Cassie Hook, Chelsey Hook and Tiffany Shaffer, Trevor, Gavin and Megan Fox, Brianna and Avery Landers, and Josh and Ashley Cunningham; and nine great-great-grandchildren, Christian, Andrew, Bryce, Ethan, Dakota, Devon, Autumn, Kyerstin, and Delilah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, David Alan Tomsey; and two daughters, Vicky Marie Landers and Tina Marie Robinson.

Ruby retired in Feb., 1998, as cook at Autumnwood Care Center. She worked at Wyme's Restaurant and private parties upstairs where she served the Lion's Club. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Ruby had a strong bond with her family. She lived with or next door to her mother her entire life. Ruby grew up during the Great Depression and knew how valuable the dollar was. She worked hard after her husband died to support her mother and grandmother as well as her children when they needed her support. Ruby had a ferocious love of reading, especially a good mystery or crime novel. Ruby loved sweets and indulged. Ruby loved her pets.

Private burial for her grandchildren will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
